DLV: My new label is a platform for crafting music that's both immersive and soulful. It's not just about moving bodies on the dance floor; it's about connecting with the essence of the soul
We are happy to present our next guest, DLV!

Vienna-born and Berlin-based DLV is not a blank slate in Europe’s techno industry. Hedefines his music as a realm of sinister peak-time Techno.
A strong focus on productions and his DJ career made him score an underground hitcalled “Rave Instructor“. This heavy dance-floor weapon achieved some big support coming from techno royalties such as Amelie Lens, Regal, and many more.

We talked to the talent about his latest release"Sinnerman" and other projects! Find out more below...
RMH:
Your latest release, "Sinnerman," showcases your signature style of hard-hitting techno and hard groove. Can you tell us more about the creative process behind these tracks and the inspiration behind the title?
DLV:
"Sinnerman" and the entire EP draw inspiration from my personal journey. The main track, "Sinnerman," goes beyond a typical peak time anthem. It's a story of resilience and strength during tough times. The powerful beat and vocals convey the message of overcoming challenges, with a touch of spirituality about finding hope through faith.

Moving to "Angel of Death," it's a blend of '90s trance, classical techno, and contemporary hard techno elements. I love playing with different sounds, not sticking to one style. This track showcases my versatility, combining influences from different eras for a unique experience.
RMH:
Having been a long-standing resident at Grelle Forelle and the founder of Acid Techno Techno Club, you're well-established in the Vienna music scene. How has your journey in these spaces influenced the sound we hear in "Sinnerman"?

DLV:
Vienna is where my love for Techno grew, and you can hear it in "Sinnerman." Playing at Grelle Forelle and starting Acid Techno Club shaped the track's sound. It's all about powerful kicks, energetic beats, and dark basslines—just like the techno scene in Vienna. "Sinnerman" captures that intense, dancefloor vibe inspired by my experiences in these spaces.

RMH:
If "Sinnerman" were a flavor of ice cream, what would it be, and why?
DLV:
If "Sinnerman" were an ice cream flavour, it would be cinnamon.
Much like the track's multifaceted nature, cinnamon embodies the perfect balance of sweetness and spice.
Just as "Sinnerman" is a blend of resilience and strength, cinnamon's complex flavour reflects the essence of the track.

RMH:
The release marks DLV002, a self-release before you launch a new label next year with a different sound output. What prompted this shift in direction, and can you provide any insights into the kind of sound and experiences you aim to explore with the upcoming label?

DLV:
In the past year, my musical journey inspired me to take a new direction, leading to the creation of my own label. I felt that my original music didn't quite fit into the current music scene around me.

As I explored electronic music further, I found myself drawn to genres like hard house, trance, and dub techno, diverging from the prevailing trend in techno. The scene was moving towards faster and harder sounds, which didn't align with my evolving taste.

My new label is a platform for crafting music that's both immersive and soulful. It's not just about moving bodies on the dance floor; it's about connecting with the essence of the soul. I want to bring a fresh vibe, drawing inspiration from the past while creating a unique musical experience.

RMH:
How do live performances and the energy of the audience influence the way you approach studio production and the creation of your tracks?

DLV:
I perform live, the emotions and vibes from the audience stay with me. In the studio, I try to tap into those feelings. The energy of live shows inspires my studio work, helping me create tracks that capture the intense emotions and connections from the stage. It's about turning those live experiences into music that people can feel.
RMH:
As you embark on a new musical journey for 2024, how do you see yourself evolving as an artist, and what challenges or excitements do you anticipate in 2024?
DLV:
In the coming year, my evolution as an artist goes beyond my productions—it's also a shift in performance. I've not only changed the type of tracks I create but am gradually altering the style of my sets.

I'm moving towards crafting sets that tell a story, inviting the audience to actively participate. In a landscape where everything is maximal and in-your-face, my aim is to open a portal to the subconscious of my audience, fostering a deeper connection between their bodies and the dance floor.

This transformation has influenced the parties and clubs I perform in. Joining a new agency that shares this mentality has been refreshing. I'm excited to collaborate with like-minded artists and continue evolving this new style.

One challenge I foresee is gradually educating my audience, who may expect something different from what I was known for in the past. However, I see this as an exciting opportunity for growth and a chance to redefine expectations.

RMH:
Finally, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?

DLV:
Absolutely! I'll be heading to Valencia for a winter escape, seeking a change of environment to fuel my creativity. After touring, I realized Berlin's cold and dark season isn't the most conducive for my creative recharge. Valencia, with its vibrant atmosphere, will be my haven for unwinding, recharging, and exploring new artistic inspiration. I'm excited about this upcoming chapter in my creative journey.
