MARHU: It takes years for an artist to craft their sound, and now I feel 100% connected with mine.
We are happy to welcome our today's guest, MARHU!

Born and raised in Brussels, Marhu has quickly emerged as a new talent in the underground electronic music scene. With Swiss and Belgian heritage, Marhu blends Psy Trance with Techno, drawing inspiration from various influences, including Japanese and Indian instruments.

We had an insightful conversation with MARHU about her journey in the music industry, her residency at ARTCORE, and much more. Discover the full story below!.

RMH:
Hi MARHU, it's great to have you with us! To kick things off, can you share a bit about yourself and your journey as an artist so far?
MARHU:
Heyy, so nice to meet you and thank you so much for inviting me here! I’m a music producer and DJ based in Brussels, and my mission is to conquer the world with my music, I create high energy psy & techno, blending it with Japanese and Indian instruments.
RMH:
Your latest release, Bhajan, blends Japanese and Indian instruments with Psy-Trance. Can you tell us about your creative process for incorporating these unique sounds into electronic music?
MARHU:
Yess I love to have original instruments in my productions. In particular, the flute, haha! I’m obsessed with transforming its sound into something sweet, addictive and full of character. Combined with high energy beats it creates something deliciously unique!!
In Bhajan, the flute gives a fresh and unexpected twist that me and my friends can’t stop humming. It sticks with you :)
RMH:
You have a background as a professional horse rider and studied at the SAE School of Music. How do these experiences influence your approach to producing music?
MARHU:
Yesss indeed dressage was a big part of my life growing up, I even started competing for the Swiss National Team. You can imagine that going from strict dressage to crazy techno has been a wild journey haha.
Dressage taught me crazy determination and to never give up - skills that are essential in music too. It helped me build this consistency in my work flow and pay attention to the little details.. to be entirely dedicated to my craft every day…
The scene is tougher than ever and excelling on all front is non-negotiable! Discipline is a must if you want to run in this industry long term! But after all it’s really the love for the music that drives me to create every day .
Being surrounded by horses also affected my music today in a way, for example I like to add sounds from the nature. It can be water sounds like rain, birds, literally anything! And even if I don’t do horse riding anymore, I can tell that my basslines gallopp veryyyyy fast haha :)
RMH:
You've become a resident for ARTCORE, and your new EP marks your first full release with them. What does this milestone mean for you, and how does it reflect your growth as an artist?
MARHU:
Uffff this year has been a huge shift in my career!! It is difficult to express in words the excitement and happiness I felt when I received this huge proposal to join the ARTCORE team. I’ve been working on my sound a lot the last months to define it more and create a signature.
I’m so happy everyday, my team is just extraordinary; we are super aligned and share the same values.
Meeting Indira felt so natural, like we’ve known each other for much much longer.
It takes years for an artist to craft your sound and now I feel 100% connected with my sound.
RMH:
How do you see the electronic music scene evolving, both in Belgium and globally? Where do you think it's headed?
MARHU:
Techno used to be one thing and now it has gone in many many directions, which is awesome, we have to evolve and explore :) it was time for that change and the evolution was necessary.
It’s like a big field of flowers and it’s up to you to find what you love and what you vibe with :)
RMH:
If you had to describe your latest release, Bhajan, as a food dish, what would it be, and what ingredients would it have?
MARHU:
Hahaha I like this question :) it would be Japanese food; something sweet and spicy! Like a super delicious spicy salmon sushi roll with pineapple haha.
RMH:
Any other exciting projects, collaborations, or performances we should keep an eye on?
MARHU:
Yessss definitely! So much cool stuff coming! I can already tell you that on November 16th I will be playing at my first showcase ARTCORE x No Sleep Festival in Belgrade, Serbia. It’s an event produced by Exit Festival.
