Caravel: when I build my set, I am always looking to surprise the audience with unknown tracks. I like to mix genres, from rave techno to trance, through Schranz and industrial.
We are happy to welcome our next guest, Caravel!

Caravel, a determined electronic music artist, boldly fuses raw rhythms and complex melodies. Her smashing productions on Exhale and Sacred Court captivate with their intensity. As a resident of berlin crew Synoid, she also orchestrates the Resilience evenings, bewitching events that marry sound and form.

We had a chat about Caravel's upcoming single on Terminal V, her signature style and other projects. Find out more below!

Hello Caravel, we are happy to be chatting with you!
You've been steadily making a name for yourself in the music scene over the last few years with releases on labels like HEKATE, OBSCUUR Records, and Sacred Court. Can you share some insights into your journey and growth as a producer and DJ during this time?
CARAVEL:
I started DJ’ing in 2017 and learned how to produce 4 years ago, mainly with YouTube tutorials. Before the pandemic I was doing warm up gigs in my hometown with an average of 1 gig every two months. But when all clubs were closed due to the lockdown around the world, I took the time to improve my skills on producing and DJ’ing as well. I then got the chance to record my first HOR set and my career really started at that moment. Since, I’ve been working on making my way on the scene as a DJ and a producer in a world surrounded by men.
RMH:
Regularly featuring on the HÖR series is notable. Could you tell us about your experiences and the significance of these appearances in terms of your exposure and connection with the audience?
CARAVEL:
Yes I did 2 HOR shows, first was in 2021 and last one was in Nov 22. It’s not an easy thing to do, it’s a very stressful exercise because you can’t make a wrong move. It’s only one hour live and you have to captivate the audience in a short amount of time. However, it can be a big drive for your career and that’s what It helped me to achieve.
RMH:
It's exciting to hear that you're working towards launching your own label later this year. What motivated you to take this step, and what can you share about the vision and direction you have in mind for your label?
CARAVEL:
The idea of the label only came a year ago, I was wondering where I could sign my tracks because I didn’t see any label that could fit 100%. With Haku I want to bring to a light to unknown artists and give them the chance to express themselves on a bigger scale. It won’t be only focusing on new artists and those that are unknown, as I really want to release artists that I like, and play, whether they’re headliners or not.
RMH:
Your upcoming tours in Asia, South America, and various European cities sound incredible. Can you give us a sneak peek into what audiences can expect from your performances during these tours?
CARAVEL:
Expect only heavy kick drums and Schranz grooves, might play some unreleased as well.
RMH:
Your upcoming releases, including a single on Terminal V and one on Synoid, are generating quite a buzz. Could you provide some details about the creative process behind these tracks and what you hope listeners will take away from them?
CARAVEL:
I don’t have one defined creative process, when I produce, I always start with the kick, and I let my imagination take the lead. So, depending on the mood of the gigs I had previously, it can be more industrial or melodic.

The track on Synoid was made a year ago, I got influenced by Russian vibes and industrial French kick. For Terminal V the track has more Schranz influences with an orchestral long break. So, two tracks, two different moods, but hopefully both will make you travel. The release on Terminal V has just been set for the 13th October, so keep an eye out for it.
RMH:
Your background is quite diverse, with a Parisian mother and a Vietnamese father. How have your dual cultural influences shaped your musical style and your approach to your career in the electronic music scene?
CARAVEL:
My mother was born in Nancy, France, and moved in Paris after she graduated. I didn’t get the chance to spend lot of time with my father since he passed away when I was a child. I think I got my artistic side from my mother, she used to paint a lot when she was younger. I also have 2 sisters and a brother, they all were playing an instrument, so I guess it’s a family thing. 😊
RMH:
Exploring the topic of influences further, how do you draw inspiration from your cultural heritage when creating tracks or curating sets? Are there specific sounds or themes that resonate with you?
CARAVEL:
When I build my set, I am always looking to surprise the audience with unknown tracks. I like to mix genres, from rave techno to trance, through Schranz and industrial. The most important for me is to tell a story with up and downs, always progressive and with a big finish.
RMH:
Outside of music, what are some of your favorite hobbies or interests that might surprise your fans?
CARAVEL:
I love gastronomy, I have a private instagram where I post all the best places I’ve been to. I am also I big fan of soccer aka football, I did support my home team called Olympique Lyonnais (but they are not so good anymore) hahaha.
