This June saw the return of one of the world's greatest festivals, Sónar, in Barcelona once more demonstrating why it is still at the peak of the global electronic music and digital arts scene. Having been invited as a press entity, we had the chance to be part of this unbeaten celebration of creativity, innovation, and vanguard performance.
Sónar 2024 was truly eclectic in terms of showcasing legendary and emerging artists who came to offer a really diverse auditory and visual feast for the attendees in general.Industry giants such as Charlotte de Witte, The Martinez Brothers, and Richie Hawtin got on stage and showered people with endless unforgettable sets until early dawn. horsegiirL and LANAV are breakout artists who, in a few minutes, could stir freshest energy into the air, proving they are likely to be in the future as big electronic music names.
This unique format—dividing the festival into Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night—could lend room to a dynamic range of experiences. In the day, the audience was able to experience different stages and installations mounted within the Fira Montjuïc with live performances, DJ performances, and audiovisual shows. As the sun set, Sónar by Night took over, transforming the Fira Gran Via into a nocturnal wonderland. The energy was electric as festival-goers were treated to pulsating beats and stunning light shows.
It saw performances by such artists like Folamour, DJ Gigola, Reinier Zonneveld and
Paul Kalkbrenner, each bringing their unique style and energy to the stages, making every moment memorable.
The closing of the festival was put in the hands of an amazing B2B/fight mode set by Partiboi69 and Hector Oaks, and it turned out to be so fun for the people, bringing the event to a finish on a high note.
